First of all, this is not FUD. I’m bullish as hell on the future of Bitcoin. I’ve read through the extreme arguments of “it’s going to zero!” And “everything divided by 21 million”. In my opinion, the future of Bitcoin puts us somewhere in the middle…many will adopt, and plenty never will. Why do I say this? Myriad reasons, but mainly because some people will just never get it as a monetary concept. For me, I use the analogy of gold. Gold has value as a pretty shiny rock (and yes some industrial use cases), but have I ever bought gold? A relative gave me a coin many years ago, and guess what I recently sold it for? Bitcoin. That’s been my only “gold exposure” my whole life from an investing perspective. Gold could double from here and go to $8000 per ounce, and you know what? I’m still not buying any, because it doesn’t interest me. Now perhaps I’m foolish and ignorant, and I’ll just “enjoy staying poor” from a gold investor’s perspective, but I really don’t care. My suspicion is that there will be millions (billions?) of people who feel the way I do.
